Addiction: A Song

Nicotine will hook you for life

Can’t go a day without a pack of lights

Alcoholism plagues the poor

Without that drink what are they living for?

Chemical addiction preys on the weak

But it’s another addiction of which I speak

Chorus:

Addiction’s the downfall of our generation

Affecting the entire teenage population

Internet, video games, cellphones and porn

We can’t get enough, we just keep asking for more

People spend their lives glued to an LCD screen

Hooked up to a virtual pleasure machine

Every single problem has a perfect solution

Every single conflict has a happy conclusion

Why face real problems in your fucked up life?

When you can live satisfied in a world of lies.

Chorus

What has happened to vocal conversation?

Text messaging is a social abomination

In the middle of class, anytime online

It kills emotion and ensnares our minds

With a cell you’re connected from anywhere

Broadcasting your life through the open air

Chorus
