Mountain

A mountain stands inside me
Unwavering and tall
The tip is capped in snow
And ice that doesn’t thaw

A stream runs from its summit
And rushes to the base
Tumbling through the rocks
And cleansing off its face

Green trees adorn the bottom
Like stars protrude from night
They are soldiers in a battle
Fighting the good fight

Animals abundant
They frolic in the wood
Dancing ever freely
Like every critter should

I go there when I’m tired
Or when I need a rest
From all the weight and sorrow
That piles on my chest

No one can destroy it
They’ve tried to no avail
My mountain remains standing
Whilst my attackers fail
